The globe-trotting governor of California Jerry Brown announced that he would be travelling to Siberia for some business related to the state of California. The office of the governor released a statement saying that the governor will be going to Vladivostok, Russia for six days. Jerry Brown will be representing the state in the Eastern Economic Forum. During this forum, the governor will discuss the issue of climate change with business leaders from all over the world. Asked about the visit, the governor said that it offers the state of California the opportunity to participate in decarbonizing the world. However, it is not clear whether the governor will meet with Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia. Putin is expected to grace this occasion on the afternoon of 7th September. Other world leaders who will be attending the meeting include Moon Jae-in who is the Korean president as well as Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Mongolia president Khaltmaa Battulga will also attend the six-day forum. While talking to journalists on Thursday, the California governor said that it is the responsibility of every business and government to make the necessary changes when it comes to climate change. The governor’s office said that Jerry Brown would make a stopover in Nome, Alaska where he is expected to discuss the pressing issue of climate change with top scientists and researchers.

The information about the decision to attend the forum was announced few days before the forum. In the next two months, Governor Brown will make another appearance in the Climate Change Forum in Bonn, Germany where he has been invited by the UN Climate Conference organizers. This event will be graced by Frank Bainimarama who is the prime minister of Fiji. The two have a longstanding relationship when it comes to climate change issues. During the summer, the two met to discuss how they would control climate change in their respective areas. Governor Brown will be a busy man this month as he is expected to attend another climate change related event that is being organized in New York City. Later on, he will attend the regular United Nations General assembly sessions. This comes after the governor, and the state legislature passed the trade and cap act. This is an act that allows stakeholders in the state of California to pay to pollute. A few months ago, Jerry Brown travelled to China for a meeting with Chinese President XI Jinping where they discussed climate change.
