Ecobee3 Smart Thermostat now works with Amazon Echo

In an announcement made on Friday, thermostat manufacturer Ecobee said that it has worked out a partnership with Amazon, to integrate its Ecobee3 Wi-Fi Smart Thermostat with the Amazon Echo smart speaker with voice control capabilities.

The announcement implies that the $250-priced Ecobee3 Smart Thermostat -- which comes with a remote sensor to provide a more accurate reading of the ambient temperature of the users' home -- is now a direct partner of the $180 Amazon Echo smart speaker which comes with a Siri-like voice assistant, Alexa.

The Amazon Echo already boasts a number of direct integrations with different smart home devices. Some of Amazon Echo's direct partners include standalone gadgets from Philips Hue, Belkin WeMo and Lifx; as well as hubs like SmartThings, Wink and Insteon.

As a result of the newly-announced integration of Ecobee3 Smart Thermostat with Amazon Echo, users will now have the ability to easily control the temperature around their home just with their voice. They will be able to 'tell' the thermostat to increase or decrease their home temperature.

Overall, the collaboration between Ecobee and Amazon substantiates the fact that Ecobee3 Smart Thermostat is the most "third- party-friendly" Wi-Fi thermostat currently available on the market.
