BLU forays into UK market with ‘Vivo 6’ handset

In a recent announcement, US-based smartphone manufacturer BLU said that it is venturing into the UK market with the launch of its newest smartphone --- the ‘BLU Vivo 6.’

According to the announcement, the new Vivo 6 handset is now available for purchase by UK customers via Amazon UK. The standard retail cost of the handset with effect from November 26 will be £240. However, for one day, November 25 ‘Black Friday,’ the company offered the handset at a significantly discounted price of just £185 (approx. $197).

The announcement of the launch of the BLU Vivo 6 handset in the UK is noteworthy because though BLU has been manufacturing affordable, features-loaded Android handsets since early 2009, the company is still not a name to reckon in Europe.

The Vivo 6 handset is an elegant and impressive mid-range 4G smartphone. The dual-SIM handset boasts an aluminium unibody design and a fingerprint sensor. It runs a slightly modified version of Android OS 6.0 ‘Marshmallow’; and is scheduled to get the Android 7.0 ‘Nougat’ update in future.

Some of the key features of the BLU Vivo 6 handset include a 5.5-inch LCD display covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3; an octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 chipset; 4GB of RAM; expandable 64GB onboard storage; a 13-megapixel rear camera; an 8-megapixel front camera; USB Type-C; and a 3130 mAh battery.
