Young Girl Helps Others In Need

Young Girl Helps

A teenager in the Coronado area decided to make the holidays a bit warmer for people living on the streets or who need a blanket. Avery Dozier has been helping other people in any way that she can for the past eight years. She knew when she was younger that there were people who needed help. Her goal was to donate one or two blankets at a time to people in need. She has also collected clothing for the homeless.

Avery's goal increases each year because she wants to help as many people as she can. Avery started collecting blankets and clothes when she was a young girl after she saw homeless people in a park while she was running with her mother. She didn't know why there were so many people who didn't have a place to live. She wanted her mother to buy blankets that day to give to the people she saw.

Since Avery is now 16, she has more resources to rely on to get help for the homeless people in the area. She has collected clothes, blankets, coats and other materials to make life a little easier for the people who don't have a place to call their own. Her siblings have joined Avery's efforts in collecting supplies. All of them enjoy giving a gift to someone who might not have anyone else who will help them. Avery does ask for donations from the community. Businesses and groups have given her blankets and other items that she has requested so that she can make a small gift for the people she sees. Avery likes to have everything together by the end of January so that she can ensure people have something warm for the winter season. However, she tries to collect items through the rest of the year as well so that she can help as many people as possible.
