Unity announces VR scene editor for its game engine

In a recent announcement, Unity Technologies -- one of the leading game-tools companies -- has revealed that it is bringing a virtual reality (VR) scene editor to its Unity game engine. The availability of the VR scene editor will facilitate developers in creating their own 3D games while moving around within the 3D environments.

The technology unfolding a VR scene editor for the Unity game engine was recently demonstrated live by Timoni West -- one of Unity's principal game designers -- at an event held in Los Angeles. For demonstrating the technology, West used Oculus Touch controllers along with the Oculus Rift VR headset.

During the course of the demonstration of the VR scene editor for the Unity game engine, West said: "We really want to rethink what is the best way to work in VR. We are really just getting started with this."

Meanwhile, with tech adviser Digi-Capital having projected that the VR market has the potential to grow into a $30-billion market by 2020, Unity's announcement of the VR scene editor for its game engine underscores the fact that VR has the power to bring about a transformation on how things are created.

Moreover, the imminent availability of the VR scene editor for the Unity game engine will also position Unity as an ideal VR solution for game developers who are already a part of the Unity ecosystem.
