Twitter rolls out new Connect tab for iOS and Android

Popular microblogging service Twitter has revealed in a Tuesday announcement that it is rolling out a revamped version of Connect tab for iOS and Android, to offer recommendations to users about the people they should follow.

The new version of the Connect tab - which is already being rolled out to Twitter users on iOS and Android - is positioned in place of an earlier Find people section. The new Connect tab explains why it is recommending Twitter users to follow particular people and accounts.

As a result of the rollout of the new Connect tab, trending accounts are now featured in a carousel at the top of the screen, and thus do not have their own sections as before. Below the carousel, there is an option for users to connect their address book for finding people they know in the real world.

The most significant part of the new Connect tab lies underneath the two mentioned sections. That part enables users to scroll through a series of recommendation cards. Each of the recommendation cards is based on a group of people the users is already following, and on the user's recent activity.

Moreover, there are also some additional recommendation cards which are interspersed for popular accounts nearby and for people the users are likely to know through their Twitter contacts.
