Sony to unveil Future Lab Program’s first product – Concept ‘N’ – at SWSX event

Japanese electronics giant Sony has announced a new research and development initiative -- called the Future Lab Program -- under which the company will share its concept prototypes with consumers.

The Future Lab Program will essentially unfold Sony’s new, unprecedented approach to production --- to show off its prototype devices to consumers, and make enhancements to the merchandise on the basis of feedback received from consumers who test the prototypes.

The first product in Sony’s Future Lab program will be launched by the company at the South by Southwest (SXSW) conference scheduled to be held in Austin, Texas, next week. The product, which apparently will be a hands-free device, is dubbed Concept ‘N.’

In a teaser of the upcoming Concept ‘N’ device, Sony has said: “Free your ears, hands, and eyes. Enjoy your favorite activities to the full with a wearable device that never hinders movement.” Going by the teaser statement, the Concept ‘N’ hands-free device will seemingly offer a new way to experience sound, without the need of inserting anything into -- or onto -- the ear.

Other than the Concept ‘N’ device which Sony will show off at the SWSX event, the attendees will also be able to test out several other concept prototypes and technologies at the Sony booth.
