When he was trained, Dr. Mofid recalls that he had to “aggressively excise tissue and fat.” He did not agree with that approach, as it did not consider all the angles of a person’s face and required a long recovery time. He instead came up with an approach focused more on repositioning fat and providing more support, a technique which was published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. His new approach resulted in a much less invasive surgery with longer-lasting and more natural looking results, as it considered all aspects of a person’s face rather than a brute-force strategy.

When hiring for a front office position, Dr. Mofid’s practice fields anywhere between 500 to 1,000 applications, of which his team looks to hand select 50 resumes for initial phone interviews. Following the initial phone interview is a series of in-person interviews, but the selection process can be determined by something as small as how the candidate answers the phone when they are called. The final step whittles down the candidate pool to about twenty people – about 2-4% selection rate. With these final candidates, Dr. Mofid’s team looks for people who can commit 2-4 years and aspire to do so much more in the future. In fact, Dr. Mofid’s front office position is often a solid stepping stone for the careers of his employees – past employees have gone to become nurses, nurse practitioners, or employees for some of the largest corporate entities in plastic surgery/dermatology. In the end, Dr. Mofid’s rigorous process results in an empathetic team that strives towards excellence while providing a level of service above and beyond what is expected.
