Pasadena Home and Garden Tour

The 2018 Pasadena 2018 Showcase House of Design is an estate called "The Overlook" in Alhambra that is 103 years old. This will be the 54th year for the home and garden tour, which is one of the nation's oldest and largest. It was built in 1915 by two widowed sisters at the original cost of $14,000. In 1925, the third owner, also a widow, expanded the estate and incorporated Italian-influenced details.

You can go online to buy tickets for the tours that will be presented on April 22 through May 20. There have been approximately 25,000 visitors every year.

There is no parking at the event, and the address is not disclosed. Free parking and shuttle service are at Gate 6 of the Santa Anita Racetrack.

The Pasadena Showcase House for the Arts has raised millions for their programs:

Their House for the Arts has awarded more than $21 million dollars in grants and gifts since 1948 that support the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, other non-profit organizations, and local cultural, symphonic, and educational musically-oriented youth programs.

Their Youth Concert has treated almost 250,000 students in the fourth grade to a concert of classical music given by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra since 1953. Beginning in 2003, the performances have been in the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

Their Music Mobile has given an introduction to symphonic music to close to 125,000 local third graders since 1971. This is a model program that has received awards for educational excellence and originality.

Prizes of approximately $600,000 have been awarded at their Instrumental Competition since 1985. Young musicians aged 16 to 24 who attend school or live in Southern California annually compete in brass, strings, and woodwinds.
