NPD report reveals new physical software sales for Dec. 2015 and full year

On Thursday, the NPD Group released its latest report pertaining to new physical software sales recorded at retailers in the US, during the month of December 2015 and for the full year.

The new report released by the NPD Group has revealed the best-selling new, physical games at US retailers, specifically during December and generally for the year 2015 on the whole.

According to the NPD report, the game which topped new physical software sales in the US in December, and also in the full year 2015, was 'Call of Duty: Black Ops III.' The game is available on a number of platforms including PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, and PS3.

The other four games which rounded out the 'top five' list of new, physical software sales in the US in December 2015 were --- Star Wars Battlefront; Fallout 4; Madden NFL 16; and NBA 2K16.

Meanwhile, so far as the best-selling games for the year 2015 is concerned, top-ranking 'Call of Duty: Black Ops III' was followed by Madden NFL 16 in the second spot; and Fallout 4, Star Wars: Battlefront, and Grand Theft Auto V, in the third, fourth and fifth spots respectively.

Overall, NPD's Liam Callahan said that December 2015 was "the best month of total eighth generation new physical software sales;" and added: "2015 was also the best year so far for total eighth generation new physical software sales."
