Hulu is launching its app for Oculus Rift VR headset

In a recently released statement, streaming service Hulu has revealed that it is launching its app for the high-end Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset.

The announcement by Hulu is noteworthy, especially against the backdrop of the fact that, despite its availability on the market for months now, the Oculus Rift VR headset conspicuously lacks video content in its app library, particularly in comparison to the Samsung Gear VR headset.

Both Oculus Rift and Samsung Gear VR headsets use the Oculus store; and Hulu had launched its own Gear VR app in March.

About the newly-launched Hulu app for the Oculus Rift VR headset, Hulu said that the app will enable a "polished, sharper and highly responsive viewing experience" because the Rift and PC offer superior hardware.

Sharing details about its app for Oculus Rift, Hulu said that the app includes more than 30 pieces of VR content, available with or without a subscription. In addition, Hulu also apparently has plans underway to stream VR concert performances via an agreement with Live Nation.
