Huawei Watch 2 to reportedly feature sportier design

The original Huawei Watch, which hit the market in early 2015, was widely-acclaimed for its design and performance. But, fans have heard nothing of a follow-up since.

While Huawei hasn’t officially announced anything about a follow-up to the original smartphone, celebrated leaker Evan Blass has reported that the Huawei Watch 2 would notably differ than the original watch.

According to Blass, the Huawei Watch 2 would likely feature a slightly sportier design, with a 1.4-inch display. It would boast a classic styling, and be available with leather as well as stainless steel straps.

Several watchmakers are turning to sportier designs in order to entice those who use fitness tracking bands instead of a smartwatch.

The report, published in the Venture Beat, also suggested that the device would run Android Wear 2.0 – Google Inc.’s next-generation wearable operating system that is scheduled to be rolled out on Feb. 9th along with two LG-built smartwatches.

The Huawei Watch 2 is rumored to be officially unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) at the end of February 2017, though the company has yet to announce any such plans for the next-generation version of its smartwatch.
