Google to shut down Android Wear’s ‘Together’ watch face feature on Sept. 30

Google has disclosed in a recent announcement that it is updating Android Wear to version 1.5.0.308, which will result in the shutdown of Android Wear's 'Together' watch face feature with effect from September 30.

The soon-to-be-discontinued 'Together' feature basically gave the users of Android Wear platform the ability to exchange photos, emojis, sketches, and doodles with one another, similar to a messaging app.

In announcing the imminent shutdown of the 'Together' feature in the recently-launched Android Wear update, Google said in a notification embedded in the update that it is terminating the 'Together' watch face feature in Android Wear because the feature will be integrated directly into Android Wear 2.0 --- the forthcoming version of Android Wear which is scheduled for release this fall.

Highlighting the integration of the 'Together' feature into Android Wear 2.0, Google said that the move will give users the ability to "connect with more people using your favorite messaging services," as well as to send emojis and "use Smart Reply, keyboard, or handwriting on the watch screen."

Google further added that 'Together' integration in Android Wear 2.0 will also allow users to "customize a number of different watch faces with useful data from your favorite apps."
