Facebook rolls out multiple account support for Messenger on Android

On Friday, social network Facebook announced the rollout of a new update which will adds support for multiple Messenger accounts on one device. The update is initially being released to the users of Facebook’s Messenger app for Android.

Facebook’s announcement of the update, which marks the official availability of multiple account support for the Messenger app, comes after a period of testing of the new feature by the social network for a few weeks.

As a result of the latest update, Android users of the Messenger app will be able to switch between their multiple Messenger accounts on a single device.

According to the details shared by Facebook, the update will give the users of Android version of the Messenger app the ability to add accounts to Messenger, from a new ‘Accounts’ option in the Settings menu. Users do not necessarily have to be on Facebook for signing in to new Messenger accounts.

Meanwhile, to ensure the privacy of users’ messages on multiple Messenger accounts, users who switch between different accounts for the first time will be asked for their password. Thereafter, they can choose whether they want the option to show up whenever they switch between multiple accounts.
