Facebook launches donation feature for Facebook Live users to raise funds for nonprofits

At its first Social Good Forum held in New York City on Thursday, social network Facebook said that it is rolling out an update which will mark the introduction of a donation feature for Facebook Live users.

The new donation feature announced by Facebook for its live videos will give the users the ability to host video streaming sessions to raise funds for their favorite nonprofit organizations via Facebook Live.

With the help of the new feature, users will be able to connect fundraiser pages directly to a Live, for having a donate button and fundraiser progress displayed on the live video.

In announcing the launch of the new donation feature, Facebook said that it has partnered with over 750,000 nonprofit organizations for which Facebook Live users can raise funds. The company further added that the nonprofits with which it has partnered include "everything from a small local organization in your town to a large global nonprofit."

Revealing that most of the registered 501(c)(3) organizations will be eligible for live donations, John Cantarella -- Facebook's director of Social Good Partnerships - said: "A lot of people want to create fundraisers in real time. and with these tools, it just makes it easier to tell your story."
