Engdaget: Netflix plans to remaster several shows in HDR in 2016

A recently-released Engadget report has revealed that streaming giant Netflix has efforts underway to release a number of its shows in high dynamic range (HDR) video this year. The shows will be offered in both HDR10 and Dolby Vision --- the two versions of HDR.

According to the Engadget report, the first season of Netflix’s original series, ‘Marco Polo,’ has already been quietly rolled out in 4K with HDR earlier this month. The release of the second season of the show in HDR is apparently scheduled for June.

Thereafter, Netflix will reportedly release the 4K HDR version of another original series, ‘Daredevil.’

Other than the two Marco Polo seasons and Daredevil, the list of shows which Engadget claims Netflix will remaster in HDR in 2016 includes the following titles: A Series of Unfortunate Events; Bloodline; Knights of Sidonia; Chef’s Table; Hibana; The Do-Over; The Ridiculous Six; Marvel’s Daredevil; Marvel’s Iron Fist; Marvel’s Jessica Jones; Marvel’s Luke Cage; and Marvel’s The Defenders.

A Netflix spokesman has told Engadget Netflix plans to offer 100 hours of HDR content by August, and “150 hours of original programming in HDR” by the end of 2016.
