Drive-In to the 80s this August in the San Fernando Valley

Drive in

Once a staple of American youth culture, drive-in theaters have long-since disappeared from the San Fernando Valley. Oscar Urrutia, of events organization My Valley Pass, wants to change that. He hopes to tap into the community's nostalgia for the days when thousands of cars lined up at the Valley's many drive-ins, as well as celebrate the Valley's rich heritage in the history of filmmaking.

"San Fernando Valley Summer Drive-In Nights" will bring back the drive-in experience on the first two weekends of August, in the parking lot of Pacific Theatres Winnetka 12 & XD at 9201 Winnetka Ave. The series will feature 4 iconic 80s movies that were filmed in the Valley. Each film will be preceded by a live tribute band, informative speeches, and prize giveaways for those decked out in their best 80s outfits.

The movies featured were all shot in Valley locations including Reseda, Chatsworth, CSUN, Porter Ranch, Burbank, and more.
