Dodgers Win Big Over White Sox

L.A. Dodgers

Another win is in the bank for the Los Angeles Dodgers in their spectacular 2017 season. They have been playing like a well-oiled machine. At one point, they won 43 out of 50 games. That is the best 50 game stretch that any team has ever had in the history of Major League Baseball. The opening game of their series against the White Sox Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium had a great deal of drama. The game was tied at one apiece until the Dodgers exploded for five runs in the eighth inning to win the game 6-1.

Alex Wood pitched brilliantly as he has all season. Clayton Kershaw's injury has made it a very real possibility that Wood will win his first Cy Young Award. Wood got a no decision in the game. He pitched seven innings and allowed only a single earned run on six hits and no walks. He is 14-1 and his earned run average dropped to a minuscule 2.30. He is one of the biggest reasons why the Dodgers are having a season for the ages. Miguel Gonzalez also had a great start for the White Sox. He went six innings and gave up one earned run.

It was a landmark win for Los Angeles. The win put the Dodgers record at 84-34. It is the fourth time the Dodgers have ever been 50 games over .500 in the team's long and legendary history. However, the Dodger players are not letting all of their success go to their heads. They understand that they have plenty of unfinished business. Playing well in the regular season is great. However, things get much tougher in the playoffs. There have been many powerful teams that have piled up wins in the regular season and later got bounced early from the playoffs. The Dodger players agree that the season would be a failure if they do not win the World Series. Anything less than that would make all of the wins they have compiled completely meaningless.

The White Sox are having the completely opposite type of season from what the Dodgers are experiencing. They have been playing out the string for the past couple of months. Their record now stands at an absolutely dreadful 45-71. The players on the White Sox are clearly just going through the motions and cannot wait for this terrible season to come to an end.
