Chris Burch Is Behind the Best Hotel to the World

Travel + Leisure magazine’s Top 100 Hotels List has every type of lodging that anyone could possibly want. Included on the list are beach resorts that cater to families, as well as urban sanctuaries and even safari lodges.

Apparently, former President Barack Obama agrees with readers of Travel + Leisure. In March, he arranged to stay at the Brando resort that is located in French Polynesia. Travel + Leisure readers voted the Brando as the second best place to enjoy rest and. One admirer stated that he doesn’t have a lot of time for relaxation when he is working, but the Brando offers guests plenty of opportunities to unwind.

Travel + Leisure presents a World’s Best Awards survey every year when readers are asked for their opinions on the best places to travel. For example, readers can share their views on airlines, cruise ships, hotels, spas, islands, cities and resorts. Specifically, readers ranked hotels on their service, location, food, facilities and overall value.

Lucky for you, you don’t have to travel to the ends of the Earth to have a great experience at a World’s Best award-winning resort. Travel + Leisure’s top 100 hotels list includes 27 that are located in the United States, such as “The Surrey” hotel and a Floridian retreat called “Gasparilla Inn & Club.” The Lodge & Spa in Brush Creek Ranch, Wyoming, made it on the list for the first time this year. At this little gem, visitors have the opportunity to fly-fish, skeet shoot, hike or ride horses on 30,000 acres in the gorgeous country.

Which resort made it to the number one spot? To reach this destination, however, you will need a passport. You will probably want to pack sunscreen, but there’s no need to take your surfboard. Everything you will need will be waiting for you at the resort.

The Winner – Nihi in Sumba, Indonesia

The Indonesian island of Sumba is the lucky home to Nihi, a resort that the culturally curious-minded individual would be proud to patronize. It is a philanthroipc resort that offers luxurious and adventurous experiences. The “world’s most incredible wave” is located here, but the water offers visitors so much more that you may not find the time to take advantage of the surfing. Here, there is plenty of time for fishing, visiting waterfalls, and stand-up-paddle boarding down a river while taking in the sites of traditional village life.

The architects used the jungle and the beach as their inspiration for the design of the hotel. For example, the villas are all made of natural stone and teak wood and are so large that there is enough space for everyone from grandparents on down to the children. When you are here, you will notice how gracious and warmhearted the people are, according to one family. They will remain in your heart forever.

About Chris Burch

Chris Burch founded a company by the name of “Burch Creative Capital” and is also the CEO of this company. Chris Burch has spent the last 40 years as an entrepreneur and an investor and has participated in building more than 50 different companies. Most notably, Chris became an investor in Nihiwatu in 2011, the resort that has now come to be known as “Nihi Sumba Island.” He is currently the owner of this number one ranked resort.

Chris’ long history of being an entrepreneur started in 1976 when he was attending Ithaca College. He and his brother invested $2,000 into a company called “Eagle’s Eye Apparel” that eventually would be sold to Swire Group for $65 million. That sale gave Mr. Burch the ability to be an early investor in Internet Capital Group.

Chris Burch has been a serial real estate investor over the years inside and outside of the United States. He is responsible for building luxury homes in New York, Florida and Nantucket. He helped put a piece of land that was currently underused to work with his partners architect Philippe Stark and hotelier Alan Faena. The project became the now famous Faena Hotel + Universe.

Chris continues to seek new places to apply his investment dollars, and that is how he came in contact with Ellen DeGeneres. Ms. DeGeneres launched a lifestyle brand called ED by Ellen DeGeneres, and Mr. Burch partnered with her in July of 2014.

It seems that 2014 was a very busy year for Chris Burch because along with Ellen Degeneres’ ED brand, he also started a company by the name of Cocoon9 that builds luxury properties with energy efficient appliances, contemporary design, space-saving floor plans refined finishes.

Chris Burch is also currently developing several other products in a myriad of areas, including apparel, home furnishings and organic foods such Soludos, Little Duck Organics, Chubbies, Brad’s Raw Foods, Blink Health and BaubleBar.

Chris Burch is interested in more than just business because he is also heavily invested in companies in the healthcare industry. The Rothman Institute Orthopedic Foundation had him on its board, and he contributed toward projects that were being undertaken at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York, The Henry Street Settlement, The Child Welfare League of China, The China Association of Social Work and The Sumba Foundation.

Chris Burch also gives advice to those who want to create new enterprises. For example, he believes that entrepreneurs need to strike a balance between dreaming about new ideas and implementing those ideas, and he recommends several ways to do this. He suggests brainstorming, working together and taking notes while you are producing a product. The important thing is to remember that the creative process is just as important as the productive process. There just needs to be a balance between the two.
