California girl Meghan Markle's big day is drawing closer and more details are leaking out about the big event. The Los Angeles area native is set to marry England's Prince Harry on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The much-anticipated royal wedding is expected to be watched by millions in the globally-televised event.

After much speculation, it was confirmed on Thursday that Meghan's parents will both arrive in the UK the week prior to the wedding so that they can take part in all the festive traditions. Despite having spoken on the phone at the time of the engagement, this will be the first time that Harry will have met his future father-in-law, Thomas Markle. Meghan's mother, Doria Ragland, will play a large role in the wedding pomp and circumstance. Ragland and Markle were married for nine years, prior to their divorce in 1988.

Kensington Palace officials confirmed that Ragland will ride with Meghan in the wedding procession en route to Windsor Castle on the way to the ceremony. Markle will have the honor of walking his daughter down the aisle of the historic St. George's Chapel.

The happy news of the role of Meghan's parents and their participation in the royal ceremony is being overshadowed by a letter written by Meghan's half-brother, published in In Touch Weekly earlier this week. Thomas Markle, Jr. used the platform to write an open letter to Prince Harry urging him to reconsider the nuptials to his estranged half-sister. Markle, Jr. accused Meghan of bankrupting his father and being a social climber who used her Hollywood fame to get in with the royal family. Meghan's older half-sister, Samantha Grant, is also reported to not be on good terms with Meghan and will not be present at the wedding.

Royal officials also confirmed that Meghan will not have an official maid of honor, preferring instead to include a wide variety of her close friends in her special day. To the delight of royal family followers, it is expected that both Prince George and Princess Charlotte will have an official role in the ceremony. It has been a big month for Prince William's growing family, adding a third baby last week to his brood. Prince Louie was born April 23 at St. Mary's Hospital in London
