Acer introduces affordable ‘Switch’ Windows 10 tablet/laptop hybrids

Device manufacturer Acer has recently introduced an affordable series of 2-in-1 devices to compete against the low-cost Chromebooks.

The new 2-in-1 devices revealed by Acer are 'Switch' tablet/laptop hybrid devices, with a budge-friendly price tag. The new Switch touchscreen hybrids are fully "convertible" 10-inch tablets which can easily work as laptops when they are latched on to a keyboard dock.

The Switch tablet/laptop hybrid devices boast impressive specifications, security features, and Windows 10 operating system.

One of the basic models of Acer's new Switch tablet-laptop hybrids is the Switch 10 model which is priced at $199. Moreover, Acer has also unveiled a Switch V 10 model, which begins at $249 and comes with additional features including Gorilla Glass screen; a fingerprint reader; 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and a USB-Type C port.

The Switch hybrids will be equipped with Intel's 'Cherry Trail' Atom chips, which will later be phased out and substituted by new Pentium and Celeron chips code-named Apollo Lake, which will likely become available later this year.

The new Switch hybrid devices will likely hit the markets in the US and Europe in July; and will be launched in China in September.
